I am very sorry for any loyal people who will think me foolish for what I am about to do ... but I have always been committed to free speech. Someone named peekarski posted a long post with Dan's infamous quotes from over the weekend . After copying each of Dan's quotes underneath it he made a derragatory(where IS spell check on my computer lol?) remark about each one. At the bottom he ended with the quip that I posted above. It was quite an ego bruiser . Seconds after I pasted the end remark, it vanished from the screen. What a surprise.

this RWV vs MrsJimi thing should be allowed to die down IMO. You know how I feel about RWV and Dan's recent behavior. I have posted about it on RWV, here, on the psychobabes group site, and I have emailed (and gotten a reply) from Dan, expressing my concerns and my suggestions to him.
I believe that MrsJ and all of us might best be served by just quietly going about our business. As I said, I will still visit RWV, but this is where I like to hang (when I can). Hanging on RWV is like being tied to an anthill and having honey poured all over me.
In the broiling sun.
Anyway, I am taking a practical position here. Dan is not going to change because of any posts on RWV. If you want to express your dismay, outrage, concerns, whatever, why not email him. Make your views known behind the scenes.
Whatever is going on with Dan, and something most definitely is, I would rather not have the rift between him and mrsJ to spiral into a permanent us against them type of thing.
And posting about it on RWV is not IMO going to produce anything constructive. You will just get bogged down in arguments with the danclub.

They better not have closed the holes at the dump!!The new search team was gonna start there soon and make sure they searched it high and low..If they filled the holes someone has to answer for that..No other witnesses have said anything about seeing natalee buried so its all we have..Unless that forearm(Highly unlikely) turns out to be hers its the only place worth searching besides the part of the pond that wasnt searched..

Some of those names really surprise me. But how do you know it is really them posting there and not yet another example of somebody using their names?
This is too complicated. Yes, I think security measures, locking to ISP address, etc, is a good idea. Only being able to post as a real, registered IP address. Typekey works well on other sites, should here as well.

Totally confused here. But if you are on an Apache server, you can set up an .htaccess and ban them by IP number. Ban them from the root directory and not just from the blog. But do it like this: if the number is 123.234.345.43, ban 123.234.345.*.*

I am not a psychiatrist but there are mega problems that all of them need help with. From shortly after finding RWV I was questioning, primarily, mrsjimi....she definitely had a agenda. I was "lurking" for quite a while and was wondering why others weren't ignoring her...at one point I thought I needed to do some deep analizing of myself for the reaction I had to her.
I certainly being "new" as a poster and slow as hell typing didn't want to be pushy with my opinions...and i could go on and on.
Thank goodness now it's out in the open.

Now what happens, will I be able to come back on when I leave? Will there be a new format to sign up? Recently, Mrs. JM encouraged me to IM Dan so she could contact me...what was that about. I emailed Dan to say that would be OK, didn't know how to IM and never heard back from Dan. Perhaps this is why!?? So glad I didn't get involved with this stuff, it would have really messed my head up and send me running for the hills?

calista and all....there are some really great people here, individuals, with different opinions, different personalities, caring and even funny [like in fun].
I mostly read and seldom post. But there have been many times I wanted to express a comment or 2 to posters for their opinions or there kindess to others, as well as relpy to different thoughts but by the time I would type it out everyone would be on a new topic.....like closing the barn door after the horses ran awy...hheehee....so I just keep reading.
This is a terrific blog, with great people[now] and an absolutely delightful moderator....and I think he is wonderful...and I can say that because I could be his mother!!!!

Yes, the number of dead dogs is appalling! Some beheaded according to local myth. Rumored connection to Lorenzo? But in reality we have blood on mattress from a dog and Greta found the one injured that died, no one to call for help, etc. And yet all we hear are protests about the alleged damage to one nest of turtle eggs that no one actually witnesses. TES does not bother eggs in this country so doubt these semi old men have interest in doing so in Aruba.
But a project to provide a shelter for the stray dogs would be something good for young people to do instead of roaming around in bars and casinos all night. Alcohol causes brain damage in the young.

She has been openly confrontational with me for ages despite not having any real reason other than I did not buy into her running the blog. Some of those names would not be there if she had not lured them and acted oh so friendly and in charge. She pits one person against another in private emails and is the source of many long term problems. Why I have no idea. Some sort of internal conflict.

I want to comment on the past 24hr flame-war and subsequent banning of RWV posters who are also members of PsychoBabes.
This is a stupid and tragic situation, IMO, and has resulted in a rift between two groups of people who have much to offer on this forum.
PsychoBabesFromHell is an invitation only site organized by RWV poster MrsJimiHendrix.
The purpose of the site is to provide a space for discussion by RWV posters who want to take a break from the hostility and ridicule encountered on RWV, and discuss off topic, chat, and be part of a smaller, safer, female supportive community.
I am a member. I am also a man, for whatever difference that makes.
Let’s be honest about why people are attracted to posting on forums like RWV.
People come and post for a variety of reasons, and express themselves in a variety of ways. But I think that the following are reasons most of us have in common:
1)Wanting to exchange and discuss information relating to natalee.
2)wanting to help in the effort to find justice for natalee.
3)wanting to be part of a community of people with a shared interest.
4)wanting to be heard and appreciated by others.
These reasons exist in different proportions in each of us. Whenever one of these desires gets thwarted or attacked by another poster, there is an emotional reaction, and each of us deals with these feelings differently.
Events of the past week, including posts by Dan on this forum, created a great deal of emotion in many of us. And the members of Psychobabes used their private forum to deal with those emotions, while at the same time they tried to express themselves on RWV.
Some of what was posted in PsychoBabes was not pretty, not positive, maybe even unfair and defamatory. But people say a lot of things when they are angry, and when they feel they are not being heard.
Now you have all had a chance to peek at this dirty laundry, and those of us who made inappropriate or negative posts about others should be accountable for what we posted.
I just want to state that PsychoBabes is not a competitor to RWV. The purpose of the two sites is completely different, and they should compliment each other.
Dan, members of PsychoBabes engaged in some pretty disruptive tactics, no argument there. I do understand your right to control access to posting on your site, you need to provide as open and rational an atmosphere for posters as you are able. Just recognize that there are two sides to this thing, and that some of your oldest and most intelligent contributors have been negatively affected by this ban. Please lift it.

I do understand your right to control access to posting on your site, you need to provide as open and rational an atmosphere for posters as you are able. Just recognize that there are two sides to this thing, and that some of your oldest and most intelligent contributors have been negatively affected by this ban. Please lift it.

She has been openly confrontational with me for ages despite not having any real reason other than I did not buy into her running the blog. Some of those names would not be there if she had not lured them and acted oh so friendly and in charge. She pits one person against another in private emails and is the source of many long term problems. Why I have no idea. Some sort of internal conflict.

Furthermore, I think what Dan is trying to get across here also is you don't have to openly participate in the MANY derogatory comments. Just your association and occasional comments show your willingness and NEED to go along with whatever the "BABES" were up to.

one thing about psychbabes, you can figure out who was posting, can't you.
That's because one of our agreed upon ground rules was that each of us knew who each other was. we didn't keep changing screen names, and we let everyone know what name we used on other forums as well.
That made us accountable to each other for the contents of our posts, even if they were emotion driven and inapropriate. and that allowed for some measure of mutual trust.
you, my fine question mark, are a good example of why people felt the need to form a separate group.
and you will probably never feel the sense of community we felt.

I have emailed Dan (often) during the past several days. I have expressed my concerns, and explained my fears as this situation developed. Since I took no part in any organized attacks on anyone, counseled against it, and regret that it happened, I do not feel that I personally need to apologize for anything.
And since there is no "group" in terms of any guidance or control over the individual actions of it's members, any explanations or apologies would have to come from each of those individuals.
A better focus of attention might be on the issues which caused so many long term RWV posters to feel so alienated and angry to begin with.
But that's not as simple, is it.

However, regardless of the order of the posts above, or lack of "whole" conversations not being posted, it is pretty easy to figure this all out...we are not stupid people here. We can read!! And, I would think that the participants of this forum are probably relieved that "whole" conversations were not posted here and probably breathing a sigh of relief. Are you?

boy oh boy.......
i too have been in this forum since right after NH disappeared, that is how I found it plus i had found it previously on other issues but never participated or stayed around. have been here though pretty much all along since NH case. certainly will not claim to be a long, long time member.
nor have i ever participated in anything like this before so it was eye opening from day one. so naive to it i posted my real email address but not for long once someone advised me not to pretty early on.
i work at home on my computer so i am on here a lot and read pretty much everything posted almost every day. don't get the work done that i should any more either.
in the past week or so(?) i started seeing remarks that dan had lost it, etc., etc., etc. and i do miss some stuff and some days so i wondered what the heck people were doing coming on HIS site complaining about him. or what started it. and i did notice it was people i had always thought were "regulars" at least mostly. i stayed out of it, watched it but still wondered what the heck started their gripes.
i was gone all weekend camping so won't pretend i read everything from Friday through Sunday and not even sure i was on here Thursday.
i know one thing. i was here when mrs. j. came on the board for the first time so she, at least under that name, was no long, long, long time person. she did come on shortly after one or two were banned and maybe some long, long, long time member has a better idea who she is and maybe she was not new except under that name.
i too noticed how quickly she became "boss" or "leader" and had the "need" to. i have nothing against her though because there are always those in any group that lead, take over or need to boss and it truly does not bother me if it is not way, way, way overboard.
i too noticed she only responded to certain posters very quickly. i think (not sure) early on i may have said something to her that i got a rude response but that passed and then all was fine w/her pretty much if you stayed out of her way, let her run things, etc., etc. or agreed with her, even better, you might get a nice response then!!!
i also wondered why people were so quick to take up with her and let her rule the blog and she did very quickly. once again, i could care less, have no need to rule, lead or anything else.
in fact, thru the weeks i really agreed w/her and her "group" if you want to call it that. i remember the postings she started when tons of trolls and trouble were coming on and the hard to figure our references to clearly a place being made that they could discuss in peace. remarks that dan had to do something and he responded to them and did and it got much better, at least for awhile. she did however go ahead and create another spot they could discuss, i was in the discussion when it was happening. many of us agreed and asked if we could be included because it was awful on here with trolls and nasty, nasty stuff about that time. despite the fact i had been here from the start, only once changed my screen name and my remarks and opinions on this case agree with this group's general perspective, was clearly not a troll, i was not responded to nor invited nor were a couple of others who i would say the same about.
thru the weeks since, i have seen remark upon remark upon remark to those regulars of hers (at least you can figure that is who they are) to check their email or even to check it NOW. it seems sly, rude to the rest chatting and all you could infer was that remarks and plans were being made in private during the chats on what to do, what to say, maybe name changes and games, etc. don't know this, but it was all you could figure from this behavior.
now to address iremember, i see iremember's point because i know when this other site started, saw the remarks leading up to it and did not for one minute think it was not a good idea to get away from the worst invasive trolls and wished i would have been included. the other people who went with (but also stayed here as she did) i pretty much agreed with on points of view as i stated.
i also want to point out that only with her did i sit back silent and see problems always. she has to lead, she had to be right, you had to agree and you all always followed her and i figured okay, whatever, i can get along with anyone and the REST of you responded very nicely to my remarks and conversed w/me but i can see the point of the posters above who always felt she was not that way and they are correct. i think many of the quieter majority that sit back and watch and post rarely felt that way but would not say so. it also seemed from day one that she was schmoozing dan, helping dan and each week acting as though this was her blog or she was his main manager or some such thing.
that being said, i never minded her and agreed with many of her opinions so if someone wants to report this to her, fine. if she is really not so bad, then she will take in these comments and maybe see what i mean or the posters above mean. i truly do not care.
and i will defend iremember because, as you can see, he is still here and dan did not ban him although dan must know he goes over to mrsj's spot too and personally most in that group i liked and think represent how ir is, middle of the road, able to talk nondefensively on all sides, etc.
sorry for the long, long post and not for one minute do i think i know what is going on here because all day yesterday and now today i have watched and wondered what the heck is happening and how the turning on dan came about and more but if i am reading this right now, this is my take on it but still do not know how this came to a head.
my final opinion is that this is Dan's blog and when i started seeing the masses of negative remarks towards him i for one think, it is his blog, you don't come to someone else's blog, say nasty things about him and expect to stay! if you don't like him, don't come here or go to another one. to me it is unfair harassment and just as bad as if someone calls your home and makes an obscene remark or harasses you, stalks you on the street or anything else and i think it is wrong. just my opinion.
now i am going back to the NH case focus and i for one am glad i am not banned and glad i stayed out of such remarks although i wondered and wanted to ask why they all of a sudden hated dan but i figured i would just sit back until i figured it out.

I don't recall that Tom and Red from SM's were ever regular commenters at Dan Riehl's RWV blog, who went off on their own, started a "private and invite only" blog, then continued to go back and forth between both blogs and participate and allowed their members and commenters to intentionally try to do such things as: "Let's use all his bandwidth! First things first - the all caps on your name must have been from over excitement or something. Neither was I yelling nor do I have explanation for that, so please accept my apology.
Second, whatever your level of participation in the PSYCHOBABES forum is on you not me. I don't need an explanation. Everyone seems to be confused by the meaning of the word "association". Have you ever heard of the phrase "guilty by association"? Well, let's see if Webster's can help:
association: 1 : the act of associating;
2 : the process of forming mental connections or bonds between sensations, ideas, or memories
3: a group of persons who share common interests or a common purpose and who are organized with varying degrees of formality —
4 : the act of having contact or communication with or keeping company with another : the sharing (as by an aider and abettor) in the criminal intent of a person who commits a crime
So, association in the context I have used means being associated with a certain group, participating, having knowledge of, bystanding. In other words, if you were a member of PSYCHOBABES and just read the blog over there regularly, participated in comments (whether occasionally or continued), watched the muck being slung, read the alleged threats to intentionally harm someone elses blog, or any of the other things that were going on over there, or just stood by and took it all in..if one or more of these apply and you did nothing to stop it or did nothing to disassociate yourself with the group then you have and will be perceived to be a part of the groups attitude and behavior. I know that sucks, but that is life! In other words, the guy that stands on the corner and watches to make sure the robber can go in and commit a crime, may not have carried a weapon or planned the crime, or even profited from the crime, but he is nonetheless guilty by "association", having knowledge and doing nothing to stop it. I'm not using crime to describe the situation here, but that is an exmaple of guilty by association.
So just your name on this blog Mrs.Mojo and the fact that that blog was originally started for the Mrs rock start wives group gives the perception and association you are questioning. Is that enough or does that fact that you are a known member of the forum also need to be stated?

Dan doesn't deserve an apology as he is as much of the problem as any of these people and it was taken out of context and pasted and cut that is obvious from what I can see!
So If they owe an apology then so does Dan to them by doing this kind of thing in public where they were talking in a private disclosed location and he was not! So he is more to blame for being childish than any of those people could ever be! He has lost all sense of what is good for the Holloway/Twitty family and the search for Natalee and needs to get a grip on hisself. I hope these people sue the pants off of Mr. Dan Riehl myself!

I don't think it is right to try and keep people like Melody and Scubajap from posting to Dan's site. That kind of atitude is why so many people left SM. People who were actually in Aruba when Natalee disappeared and had first hand knowledge were being chased away with hurtful and rude comments because what they had to say contradicted the majority opinion at that time. To make it worse, moderators were enabling this type of behavior.
In my view, Dan has done a remarkable job in his attempts to bring out as accurate an account as possible of what happened on the island. I would much rather read eyewitness statements and accurate accounts of what the island is really like from people who are/were there, than page after page of strong opinions from people who don't know anything at all.
We are all Dan's guests. I'm sure he expects his guests to respect the host and any other guests he invites. If you don't, you will be asked to leave. It's just that simple.

You are right...this is way out of control. Way more than you suspect. I've never been to pyschobabes before but have chatted with a few of the ladies via email. The site is down now...mrs. Jimi is beside herself with concern. She never intended psychobabes to be a negative thing. I think it did get that way after the bannings...but that was totally a human reaction.
Please be careful here. All is not as it seems. (Not trying to sound all Shango...lol...but seriously...be careful.)

I really don't think there's one person to blame for anything. As much as one might think that MrsJimi was responsible, that may, possibly, be the furthest from the truth. It truly does take others to fuel any fire. That is assuming this entire "fire" thing is completely accurate.
I do not know. I was in the psychobabe site for a short bit. I do know there were some angry things said. There were also many many things that were said in defense of Dan and compassion for other posters here. I must admit, I don't recall some of the things posted. I will not and cannot call any person involved a liar. That does include Dan.
I will not judge anybody.
I have no "fact" to base judgement upon.

These people aren't children guys, don't get it distorted. For whatever reason they joined that group, seems some had their own agenda's with RWV and Dan.

Well, don't get mad at me. I will bicker with the best of them but in a real argument, I become really upset. I even liked the dreaded IHopper and was beside myself when she/he and Dan fell out. Hope that does not get me banned but some of those labeled as trolls are really very bright if strange. Some actually do contribute. And it came down to picking one and I chose Dan. That speaks for itself I do believe.
It is rude in the extreme to issue invitations to some and not all like the little snotty girl in the first grade bragging about her birthday party in front of the whole class then only inviting certain kids to it. Childish, even.
While MrsJimi started out meaning well and trying to protect Dan, she did get carried away and soon every new poster was labeled a troll. Imagine how they must have felt. And she sometimes carried Dan's opinions so far as to attempt to prevent any from posting any contrary views and this where she and I parted ways. She would use phrases like "we let you post" as though some how this was her decision as well as Dan's and I for one would not post under her name, sorry, I do not know her views well enough to do such a thing. I would be concerned about what I might be endorsing unwittingly.
That is why there needs to be a clear chain of command or head of a blog so that we do know under whose flag we are flying or posting in this case.
While I might become furious with some other posters or even Dan I cannot fathom trying to do them some sort of harm. That is NOT normal in my thinking, things like bandwidth, etc. We all have to push that refresh button. It is just a blog, not life and death, and to wish another harm over a blog is not the behavior of the mentally sound.
I was truly hoping to come back this morning and see all was forgiven, etc. but realize that is not possible when folks turn vindictive. I am so sorry this happened for all concerned including MrsJimi but she was her own worst enemy in it all. I still think no matter how misguided she thought she was protecting Dan in some odd way, did not want him to like other posters, ran interference, etc. and finally became very possessive of Dan and the blog. We would ask Dan a question and she would answer.
So as before when there were problems, I will trusted Dan's judgement. All I have to say is "what he said" on this. I am a guest here and do not have a voice in this nor a vote. Sort of all or nothing so once again I fall behind and support him in his decision, not that he needs my support nor endorsement, but he has it. I think this was malicious behavior and he is the offended party and it is his blog so entitled to take whatever action he deems necessary or even just wants to do. We post at his pleasure in a sense.
I don't know all the details nor do I want to know them. It is easier for me to just trust his judgement on this and carry forward with the intent of the forum, discussion of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. I am sorry this happened to Dan for it is just a low blow. If you do not knnow what is wrong with doing this, you might want to think about it some more.
Just my most humble opinion.

I'm amazed that some people still don't understand why MJH was banned. After all the truths that have been said from other posters about that lady and they still cannot understand and continue to defend her and demean Dan. It wasn't just that she started another blog, who cares about that. It was the way she presented herself on Dan's blog. I'm sure there were many people reading day after day, who were sick of her antics, me included. Not sure of who posted previously but they were right in saying MJH has not been here since the beginning, read the archives and see. She started posting pretty much after Island Hopper was banned or she started making herself known more so than. Yes, she did start to ingratiate her self with Dan and others, but for her own agenda. But boy watch out if you disagreed with her, she was on you with curse words and screaming in all caps. Come on you friends of hers know this. You did not get her wrath because you agreed with her and found her off topics interesting. Like the rock and roll names each took, and so on. How a lady who says she has 3 small children has time to be on a blog pratically all day and night is beyond me. The truth is people who have self confidence and class don't go talking about themselves. They don't need to.
She donated money to Dan's blog, so what. Did she do it to impress her friends? Give her something to brag about? Why did she need to tell people about it? That was the first thing she wanted known when she was banned. IMO she needs a tremendous amount of attention, and it is sad that she has turned on Dan in a childish manner.
For those people who say all the good posters are gone, or it's just not the same now. Who are you kidding. If you don't like it anymore why are you still here? This blog is for everyone, not just a select few who call themselves longtime regulars. There will always be new people coming in and out. This isn't a club. It's a forum for goodness sakes!

Just wanted to clear up a few misconceptions. Mrs. Jimi was around well before Ihop was banned...she just posted under another name. This was back in the day of Tideroller, Bullshark, Ihop, etc...In fact, Jimi was the very first person to greet me when I made my first post a few months ago. Shortly after I came on board, someone started ghosting with her name and being very abusive. It was and is a common problem in this loose format. This is why she changed her name. Dan can verify this is true...he helped her get to the bottom of that whole mess. I won't name who I think did this to her. But this may be some of the content you have seen in archives that appears abusive. When she changed her name to Mrs. Jimi, a few of us took to teasing her... adopting names like mrs. MojoRisin' (me), Mrs. Eric Clapton, etc...we even had a Mr. Janis Joplin...lol. We were trying to make light of the problem and cheer her up about the theft of her name. This rock star naming happened in the wee hours one night well before the traffic here at RWV escalated to its current crazy level. It was NEVER a club thing...just a bit of late night off-topic banter about our favorite music, years in h.s., etc... Back then Dan even joined in our silly conversations....it was really nice. Again, he can verify that this is all true.
I do know that at one point, Dan apparently became concerned with the amount of Aruba bashing that was occurring here and he asked people to cool it. At that time, I believe he was also taking Jimi into his confidence on a lot of other issues and I believe she in turn was trying to help out with some research (London bombing I believe). They appeared to have a genuine friendship and I sincerely believe he made her feel free to step in if the Aruba-bashing got out of control. I never witnessed anything other than constructive, intervention on her part btw.
I can address a few of the comments lifted from a private forum and posted here. I got a look at the content and there was no threat against this blog. After the banning of about a dozen posters, a joke was made about tying up Dan's bandwith. We all know that cannot be accomplished by a few dozen posters...it was a joke, a means of dealing with the bewilderment and dismay at being banned. Also, the reference to 'a new cause' had nothing to do with RWV...it had to do with the Natalee Holloway case.
Regarding the private forum. First of all, it is a free country...we can gather where we want with whom we want. That being said, Jimi had Dan's blessing to try to move social hour off his blog. She worked her butt off trying to figure out who might be interested in talking about things other than Natalee Holloway. Then she worked even harder to try to get password information to anyone interested in joining the conversation....which was no easy task given the aliases and nonworking email addresses. Chances are if you were into sleuthing and very focused on the NH case like Anna or if you didn't have a working email, you didn't hear from Jimi. But it wasn't personal and it didn't mean these people weren't liked or appreciated! It would be nice if anyone who felt offended would take this to heart...it is the truth.
I don't agree with public humiliation. If the banned posters are truly not cared about by Dan, why invade their private space and post their private conversations? Why not ban them and move on? This public flogging is very similar to what happened to Ihop, who I also liked. Ironically, when Ihop was banned, Dan got most of the posters mad at her too. Some of the things posted were despicable. If you check archives, you will see that very few people defended Ihop...but Jimi and I were among those few.
There is always many facets to a story...hopefully this helps a little.

MrsJimi was one of the first to turn on IHOP and certainly NEVER defended her, you are wrong about that. As for her never being abusive, she was to MtnBrookMom who merely mentioned the day's headlines here and was totally blasted. She has only recently begun to post again. I almost left over that one it was so unnecessary and unkind.
Were you reading here the time Dan himself was accused of being a troll? Believe he had a personal friend who was also, pretty embarrassing and a bit too much. She assumed the role of moderator but Dan has repeatedly assured me and others all along that there were no moderators. But to this day, she considers IHop a dreaded enemy and often accused others of being him/her as though that was the devil himself and further accused IHop of stalking her, threatened to sue, tremendous ill will there.
The rock star names are harmless in and of themselves but too much was made of them, constant cross talk and we all had to scroll through it just to refresh the blog each time to read the new posts. It made it just about impossible to separate the actual posts from the nonsense. This is not the place for chit chat, rock star talk, flirting, etc, for a blog is not a chat room but a focused discussion. It was treated just like a chat room was the problem for lots of us, we did not have time for not care for all the personal banter. That is for chat rooms and not for blogs.
I am sure Mrs Jimi is a fine person and do not have any ill will toward her personally but given she was asked over and over not to do that and not to type in all caps and not to curse and she continued to do so. The rules were for everybody else. And maybe bandwidth is the wrong word but if the blog is filled with that chatter, it takes forever for it to reload and does slow it down tremendously. What about those of us not into the in crowd who are just trying to read the serious posts? Just tough?
MrsJimi would make a perfect hostess and I think she could have a very nice chat room on topics such as rock and roll, places of interst she has lived, etc. Its just this is not about all that.
It is Dan's blog, no way around that. If he decides to unban the lot, I will support that, if not, I support that. We don't get to tell him how to run it but can start our own if we feel a need to control a blog. I may on my dogs when I have time. But as long as I am here, I will either obey the rules and respect whose blog I am on or I will leave. But I do not have the right to try to run this blog. No one does except the one who is responsible for it and bears the legal burden and does all the work. That would be Dan. His little corner of the internet.

It does not matter who I am, or where I am from, or if I know more than you or not, but I feel that mrsjimihendrix was a total know-it-all. She was accusing me a few times of being someone else, when she had no clue of what she was talking about. She became more obnoxious and bossy overtime and she deserved to be banned. Actually it is you who are wrong. When Dan published personal email from Ihop for the world to see, people went nuts bashing her. I protested for days and Jimi always backed me up. It's in the archives for all to see. I know there was a falling out between the two later, but not when Ihop was banned. (I also protested when he published email between Red and Ian over Arubagirl and sourcing issues...couldn't understand why he involved himself unnecessarily in that conflict.)
As far as what is topical and what is not and what type content was acceptable...it is very hard to figure out what Dan wants. The banter was tolerated and even encouraged for awhile. Then, Dan created a special area for comments unrelated to his posts....I believe we are in it now. Then he stated he would not be able to create anymore discussion forums and told us Ian at Political Teen would love to have us at Blogs for Natalee. Off we go to Blogs for Natalee. Then he open another discussion forum! Then some posters offered to create chatrooms to relieve the traffic jam. He seemed happy with that and was cooperating with the effort. Then he became hostile to the idea. It always seems to be 'go away, no come back, no go away...."
Honestly, I think the problem is that Dan opens his email. I have no idea how many posters complain via email and how often they do it, but you can only make some of the people happy some of the time.
And I have never looked at this forum as a club with an 'in-crowd'. I just cannot fathom someone who would. I think ya gotta leave that childhood baggage in the past and just go with the flow. It didn't bother me in the least if people conducted sidebar conversations. Why should I care?
Anna, because you seem to have formed in your mind a criteria as to what is appropriate and desirable at this blog, I think you should know that I have never, to this day, received one email or warning from Dan regarding the content of my posts. Nor have I ever, ever emailed him to complain about another poster even the ones who really ticked me off. And I have never been banned. And I guarantee you Dan probably doesn't like 99% of what I say....but I keep it out in the open for you all to see. So I'm not quite sure what set of rules you are referring to. Obviously your set is acceptable here...but then obviously so is mine. And I guess we are both 'serving a purpose'...no?

I think this all brings up what we've been told at work for years. And what I've always told my kids. Dont write anything in an email, or on the web that you don't want anyone else/or everyone else to read. Its not private, as shown above. Its just not private. I think the rule of thumb I always heard, was if you wouldn't want it on the front of the NY Times, then don't put it in an email, or a chat group or whatever. Let it go, everybody. Lesson learned.

and might i add,, when i sent dan a email asking him to forward my address on to mrsj, he sent it.he did not warn me or advise me against it. i always thought he wanted us to go somewhere else to chat about things not pertaining to natalee. i have never changed my name, i have added to it and it will remain the same. and those of you that dont like it, well dont look is my suggestion. mrs j also went after me before with a vengance, hell i thought she ran this place.

For some reason I never noticed this thread before. I don't understand a lot of it as I've not seen these other blogs? emails? but I think it's important to remember that This blog is Dan's creation. When you've worked hard on something and people screw with it like kids not giving a d*mn it's easy to get riled.
I do see that you've been sensitive, Dan, but I cannot see a lot of what you must have to deal with. I hope that you do not have to waste a lot of your time and energy policing the field and suffering the slings and arrows.
Anyway, you've been banning a lot of the people I used to argue with. Heh,heh. You know, before I gave this up so I could get something done... ;-)
