Posters here would be well advised to go read the last comment in 345 before commenting. I will ban posters for nonsense when I see it and will close the discussion completely if it's going to turn into some people's Usenet playground. There are ample forums already available for that. I have no intention of hosting it here.

"IS that what you were trying to expose?"

No..I am taking a serious look at the for-profit Websites/blogs that seem to have flooded the boards with ringers to build up interest and traffic (which also likely generated a big bump in donations). ClogDancingCleghordForChrist says she had 36 employees..that takes serious coin to run for six months. We can certainly speculate as to who had serious coin.

We recently had a member who was using about 40 ISPs out of one city. Whether the poster was HMI or part of the linked-blog bloc, who knows?

Not as I Recall. They had been given recent
Notices that their jobs were going to be ending as
the casino would be closing as a part of
the final renovation of the hotel. The two

Where did Greta go on "vacation" with her husband?
Same ski resort as Beth Twitty??

I don't get Greta and I couldn't care less about Beth's journal. It is not important any more, except for people who like to shred cred. Beth should save something for the TV movie!

Caey - hi you! :))

hey, it has been confirmed over and over again that the jones and johns duo were laid off from a hotel that had started renovations on May 1st.
They in 'technical' terms were, in fact, ex security guards... not by any wrong doing on their part.. terminology sucks,, I agree ...

The landfill... not aware of the storms you're speaking of...
they may have happened..
but, the dozers were shut down because of work permits not being in place..
weekend happened... (remember they took that friday before off)....
and when the permits were issued on monday afternoon... searchers arrived and the specific hole that was drilled out was in the process of being 'dozed in'...
wow.. i hope i'm not all effed up on my memory... i doubt it though...

"A report in the Birmingham News has tentatively identified the two suspects arrested and expected to be held over on suspicion of the murder and kidnapping of Natalee Holloway.

A security guard from the casino attached to the hotel identified one of the detainees as Mickey John of Granada, and the other only as Elvis from the nearby island of Bonaire.

Also, a Georgia resident known only as Lisa is said to have spoken to the FBI regarding an encounter with one suspect during a recent trip to Aruba. She claims to have seen him near her hotel on more than one occasion before being approached one day while jogging. The man allegedly first offered to sell her marajuana before propositioning her.

The men were known to police because they had a habit of going around to hotels trying to pick up women or bum cigarettes, said the officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity."

"The officer said several islanders told police the men frequently were seen hanging out at different hotels talking to female tourists. No complaints had been filed against them.

One of the suspects had a brush with the law, but it was not a violent or sexual offense, the officer said without elaborating."

Van Der Sloot Not Being Re-Interrogated
According to seemingly reliable but as yet unconfirmed reports, Joran Van Der Sloot and, I assume the other suspects, are not subject to further interrogation in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. According to reports the judge released the suspects with prejudice, which would preclude prosecutors form mandating their return for questioning. Details available through here.
http://joranvandersloot.blogspot.com/2005/12/re-interrogation-not-happening-robin.html

It seems additional questioning might only be conducted if the appearances were voluntary.

There are probably numerous people that donated to the Twitty slush fund who are now left wondering. Wondering why Beth feels it necessary to fly to Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Ohio and Utah when Natalee disappeared in Aruba.

MB kids questioning, fiery, no-one tells us anything! And I doubt we're going to hear a whole lot more news for a while, unless Jossy can make something up. I really want to know about the letter. I'm 50/50 on the letter. I can easily picture it as a hoax, but I sure wish it were true and contained good news about Natalee.

fishy - Me being anal ... (hahhaa.. don't say it..) am trying to pick that article apart with Scuba's posting a while back...
there was a man that was questioned either the first or second day that Natalee disappeared. His name NEVER hit the news....
ask her about it.... I know this is not an internet rumor...
Who was this 'first man to be interviewed'? Was he the fellow from Bonaire? Man oh Man I'm so freaking confused now!! So many so many things to look at all over again...

hi walter...happy new year...we were worried earlier you were MIA....good to see you....

Re-Interrogation: Not Happening
Robin Holloway reports that Karin Janssen stated that the suspects could not be re-interrogated, because the judge released them with prejudice. The term "prejudice" in legal language means that the defendant cannot be brought in for questioning in the future (or charge with a similar charge in the future). Joran van der Sloot's attorney, Antonio Carlo has confirmed this situation in the case. Antonio mentioned that yesterday he received an invitation from the prosecutor for Joran to come in, voluntarily, for questioning. He stated that he has not acted on the letter. (Source)

Joran left Aruba on December 30th. (Not confirmed!)

hey walter, happy new year and you too danie.

Anchor, I remember Scuba saying something about another person being interviewed and yes, you are right, their name never became public but, I'm not sure if they were a witness or a suspect. Although they use witness in an odd way there cause the witnesses ended up being usspects. It is very confusing.

so, does this mean that this is sort of "double jeopardy"...they can't be tried on the previous evidence? But, they never were tried. So, did the judges rule that the evidence was not enough to try them and then put that phrase in place so that it seems they were tried and freed and then the double jeopardy rule would apply and they couldn't be brought up on the same charges?

Posted by: fiery | Monday, January 02, 2006 at 01:27 AM

They can not be extradited for questioning. A person has to be basically
indicted (or equivalent) and going to trial or already convicted and are being returned for punishment.

BTW-about thie drug business, this is something interesting of note.
Remember that Jones was found with a lot of the belongings of the MB kids, Cameras, Ipods and the like? Do you know they were never reported missing or stolen???
AND Jones was known to be a dealer on the beach. There is some speculation the kids traded them for drugs. Interesting, no?

Posted by: fiery | Monday, January 02, 2006 at 01:45 AM

I don't think it would take any more than to extradict someone to say
England. They would have to charge a person with a serious crime and then
ask for exradition. The person can fight the extradiction request in US courts.
That may require the other country to provide some level of evidence.

7 FAM 1616 EXTRADITION PROCESS: FOREIGN REQUESTS TO THE UNITED STATES (CT:CON-100; 02-07-2005) a. A foreign government’s request for the extradition of a fugitive located in the United States must be addressed to the Department of State. The
7 FAM 1600 Page 10 of 16
U.S. Department of State Foreign Affairs Manual Volume 7 - Consular Affairs
request is generally made as a diplomatic note with accompanying documents, by the government's embassy in Washington, D.C., to the Department (L/LEI). If officials of the host country make the request directly to the post, post must notify the Department (L/LEI). b. When L/LEI receives the diplomatic note and documents requesting extradition, it determines that there is a treaty in force and reviews the request to see if it meets the treaty’s requirements. L/LEI then forwards the request to the Department of Justice (OIA) and notes either that it meets treaty requirements or that there are inconsistencies or deficiencies in the request. L/LEI and OIA jointly decide whether to pursue or reject an extradition request. c. If OIA determines that the information presented is sufficient to justify apprehension of the fugitive and initiation of the extradition, it sends the note and documents to the office of the U.S. Attorney in the district where the fugitive is located. d. Once the fugitive is apprehended, an extradition judge conducts a hearing to determine if: (1) There is a treaty in force; (2) The person arrested is in fact the person sought by the requesting state; (3) The crime of which the fugitive is accused is an extraditable crime under the treaty; (4) The request sets out probable cause to believe that the fugitive committed the charged crime; and (5) There are no treaty grounds requiring denial of extradition. An Assistant U.S. Attorney represents the requesting state; the fugitive is represented by a private attorney or court-appointed counsel. e. If the fugitive is found extraditable, the District Court certifies the record of the case to the Department of State for a final decision whether to order extradition. If, upon reviewing the relevant materials, the Secretary or Deputy Secretary agrees to order extradition, he or she will sign the surrender warrant, and the fugitive will be surrendered to the escort agents of the requesting state. f. In cases of urgency, the foreign authorities may ask the United States to effect a provisional arrest of the fugitive. If OIA agrees to proceed on the provisional arrest, it forwards the information to the U.S. Attorney in the district where the fugitive is located. The U.S. Attorney applies to the court for an arrest warrant. If the fugitive is provisionally arrested, the requesting state must submit its formal extradition request within the deadline provided in the treaty. The processes described above then would apply.

Guess you'll have to take it --

Today Occidental Hotels & Resorts' Allegro Aruba Resort issued a statement through Business Wire claiming that contrary to several press reports, murder and kidnapping suspects Nick John, 30, and Abraham Jones, 28, are not employees.

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2005--The following is a statement by Allegro Aruba Resort: Reports that the two men arrested in the search for Natalee Holloway in Aruba are employees of the Allegro Aruba Resort are erroneous and false.

In fact, the resort has been closed for complete renovation since May 1, 2005, and is scheduled to reopen later this year. It is possible that these two individuals in question worked for the security company hired by the construction firm to provide security for the site. The two men were not employees of the hotel and statements attributing that are incorrect.

Months go by, still more lies, every freakin day on 3 freakin' channels with a panel of 4 not-very-expert experts, usually while I'm trying to eat my dinner! And you are trying to tell me I have to wait a month for more details? What the heck do you expect me to do in the meantime??? Oh yeah baby, it's personal. People who lie to me at dinner are the most heinous of characters and I shall enjoy to continue watching as BAM, they all fall down! Buffalo train hit 'em.

In the end, however, it is conde rice's call, isn't it?

Posted by: fiery | Monday, January 02, 2006 at 02:12 AM

My take is that request to State dept. is a matter of protocol...then it goes to DOJ, then to a judge who will make final determination.

Posted by: Walter Sobchak | Monday, January 02, 2006 at 02:17 AM

While I was reading Walter's interesting link I began to think about all the proviso's involved and that ultimately Conde Rice can just say, "no I won't exradict any american citizen" and then that is they. She can also say that and add, but I will arrange for the Attorney General to have them tried on US soil. Gee, maybe there was a method to the madness.

Posted by: fiery | Monday, January 02, 2006 at 02:17 AM

I sort of got the feeling, Walter, that, ultimately the Secretary of State had the power to stop it all, sort of like a State Department Exceuctive Order. Now, whether or not she uses it is another matter but I think the power is there. Probably more as a protection for the american citizen but nonetheless, there for the taking. I could be wrong though and I will re read it tomorrow when a better head is on my shoulders...lol

None of the stories confirm anything about these

two. Unless you have the ARUBAN LE investigation

on the matter you , me or no one for that matter

really knows the story about them. But..Apparently

they had no involvement in the case. They are free.

I believe hardly any of what I read or hear.

Only thinkg we all know for sure is that NATALEE IS MISSING

AND SHE WAS LAST SEEN WITH THE 3 AMIGOES.

Fiery - Why are you worried about how to stop an extradition? If a crime was committed against Natalee in Aruba by an American, then that person would be better off getting charged by Aruba. They don't have the death penalty down there and no-one is sentenced to jail time for a period longer than their expected natural life span. IMO, they'd get a better deal in Aruba, except that KIA has no airconditioning. :(

Casey, I remember that article because the company couldn't wait to distance itself from the two suspects. What are you thinking or trying to point out to us that we are obviously missing?

I'm sorry costal, I'm thinking ahead, trying to figure out how an american could wiggle out of extradition and being charged with a crime. We`ve also talked to the mother of Mickey John, the second suspect. And she also has been talking to us a little about his character.

GRACE: Well, Karl Penhaul, I understand the girlfriend of one of the suspects says she was with him the night before -- they went to a concert, I believe -- and that he reported to work the next morning. But just last night, his then-attorney said that he was between assignments, that he didn`t have a place to report to.

PENHAUL: What we actually have been told by the attorney, and what my recollection of last night`s conversation is, Nancy, is that the assignment as security guard at the Allegro Hotel was due to finish later in the week, either Tuesday or Wednesday, because the Allegro is up for refurbishment and that the security company there is a contract company, not permanently assigned to that hotel. So they would have either then been moved out of the security company altogether or that contract would then have been assigned somewhere else.

Someone posted that the "main suspect" is already back at school. It has also been posted that essentially, from their end, barring horrific evidence that is found and brought forward, that they are free. So, you would have to assume that suspect's are being sought elsewhere, possibly in the United States. However, unless they can prove that the kid is not alive, they probably won't be able to do much. We are, in limbo now and probably will be in limbo for some time. A poster on hyscience said they expect to see a lawsuit soon and they expect that the monies held in the "fund" will go to the lawsuit. Since they seemed definitive and they ususally know what is going on, maybe that is what Scuba was alluding to.

This is interesting..this is from June 8th where one of the suspects reportedly said he and Natalee went to the beach and had "fun". Different beach, same story?
____________

Still with us, CNN correspondent Karl Penhaul. Very quickly to Karl Penhaul, Karl, did either of the three young men who took Natalee from the bar that night ever tell police that they had slept with her, had sex with her?

PENHAUL: We haven`t heard that directly because the evidence here and the witness statements here are highly confidential. The defense attorneys have seen some of those witness statements, I understand. But I do understand that, in the file, there are not three witness statements. I understand there are possibly only two witness statements.

We do hear from police sources, however, that the three men, at least one of them, says that they did go to the beach with Natalee and had some fun. The interpretation of that, I`m not aware of, Nancy.

GRACE: Now, is this coming from the defense attorneys?

PENHAUL: That "fun" bit of information was from a police source, that the three men or one of the three men, at least, had said that they`d gone to the beach with Natalee after leaving Carlos and Charlie`s and "had some fun." They didn`t specify what "had some fun" meant, but the beach where the two had gone or where the group had gone have been searched. That, I believe, is called Arashi Beach.

Posted by: pathenry | Monday, January 02, 2006 at 02:52 AM

you know Pat, a lot of information is in the articles about the two suspect's who were originally arrested. Their attorneys made statements as to their lack of guilt in any of this. Their attorneys were privy to everything that the prosecutor had up until that point and what they say is fascinating. I also find it interesting that one of the suspect's attorneys said he did not try to get his client released, rather he waited until the prosecutor released him. There were a few other statements.

I noticed that about the beaches too. could htere have been a party on the other beach with the kids who had left the bars and the three suspects and possibly the chaperones too. That would help make the girl swimming and called in story more plausible as then the kids would be partying on the beach. Wonder when they switched beaches?

"IS that what you were trying to expose?"

No..I am taking a serious look at the for-profit Websites/blogs that seem to have flooded the boards with ringers to build up interest and traffic (which also likely generated a big bump in donations). ClogDancingCleghordForChrist says she had 36 employees..that takes serious coin to run for six months. We can certainly speculate as to who had serious coin.

We recently had a member who was using about 40 ISPs out of one city. Whether the poster was HMI or part of the linked-blog bloc, who knows?

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL.
Love

Love is always patient and kind: it is never jealous.
Love is never boastfull or conceited; it is never rude or selfish.
Love does not take offense, and it is never resentful.
Love takes no pleasure in other people's sins, but delights in the truth.
Love is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.
Love does not come to an end.

I think it's part of this interview. I left the Daniel Horowitz comment in...OUCH!
______________
GRACE: So he`s in a cell. He can`t leave. Police are holding him. But you say he`s not in jail?

PIETERSZ: Well, the thing is that the judge of instructions, when we appeared in front of him, he decided that a detention of my client was legal. And while he did that, that means that he will have, for now, stay there by the police station.

Of course, there are legal measures that we can take as defense. But we have to see if that will be practical, yes or no. Since the maximum time he will have to stay there are ten days, for the prosecutor to prolong that or to ask for prolongation, we will have to appear in front of the judge of instructions, and he will have to gave his (UNINTELLIGIBLE) for that.

(CROSSTALK)

GRACE: OK, let me quickly go to defense attorney Daniel Horowitz standing by. Daniel Horowitz, this is basically bass-ackwards from the way that it works in America. Because you don`t arrest somebody and put them in a cell of an administration building by the jail unless you`ve got a case against them. You don`t get arrested while the state, while the prosecutor, tries to put together a case.

DANIEL HOROWITZ, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Exactly, Nancy. And there`s a problem with this, also. It focuses on these two men so much, and it doesn`t give them the freedom to be out and prove their innocence or gather evidence on their own behalf.

missed you too...it's interesting that power, money and influence can go back generations in some states. In others it doesn't matter at all. It's more what have you done for me lately. But Alabama, Misisisippi and some of the other states seem to have a hierarchy in place that is fascinating and probably even decides the elections. The more we know, the less we know...this whole thing is mind boggling and we still don't know if that letter was bogus or not. We still have no proof one way or another if she is dead or alive. This is one hell of a mystery and it is getting cloudier and not clearer and that is what is so frigtening. Things should be clearer and they are just more muck and mire and more questions.

Casey: you need to take that stick out of your butt and loosen up a little bit. Paul's getting married to Carla. Beth's going all over with Joey Mammana Twitty. The cousins are coming off of a good football season. Being bitter and angry won't solve it any faster. The family's moving along....you can too.

Mostly because a lovely young woman remains missing and her fate is unknown so everyone here is trying desperately to keep all the "facts" that we know correct and not muddied up by speculation.

Casey...."comprehension"...you insulted all of us.

Also, you seem to be sepousing the theory that the suspects were telling the truth when they said they dropped the young woman off at the hotel and she was greeted by two security guards. So you must be wondering who these two guards were. That is a good question.

Actually, Pat's point is well taken. Is anyone bohtering to search for natalee these days. if everyone has moved on. Possible divorce in the offing. Child "buried in my heart" as early as second week of June. I mean really, if everyone else has moved on and has stopped searching maybe we should all worry about a new topic. After all, we here on the internet seem to be the only one solely worried about natalee.

I may never be accepted in OT after this....
I truly cherish each and every memeber on that board...
Each person there is truly unique and special and so very much
appreciated by me...
sprite/casey - I am making this public...
OT won't come here and read all the time... you know why?
because of the shit that is started...
the shit stopped for a while... and some of the regular angry folks were
easily dealt with after explaining a true intent of discussion...
has anybody looked back to the latest postings from casey?
Casey - you're overboard. We would probably be swell friends in a lighter
discussion. I thoroughly enjoyed you,,, because of your spunk and ability to post your beliefs... Where did that go?
I honestly feel you are hijacking this forum, the same as some others that
have attempted to do the same.
I am sorry to so hurtful....
I will stop now...I have posted an announcement of this post already on OT..
my thought is not completely conveyed in the above post...

Casey, I'm not trying to fight with you...I'm trying to reason with you. I'm sure you are a lovely person. Sometimes you just, like the rest of us, go a little overboard, and it seems that you spoke out of both sides of your mouth tonight. Posted by: Walter Sobchak | Monday, January 02, 2006 at 03:54 AM

you know walter, very early on Dan was onto this crapola that is going on to protect the MB kids from being questioned. I remember when things started not to add up for him and he must have felt very annoyed cause he began to see quite clearly. He probably figured all of this out before any of us and yet...we still don't really know anything. I wonder if dan has found out anything about the letter.

Posted by: fiery | Monday, January 02, 2006 at 04:01 AM

Gee it is very interesting that the "family" is using Robin Holloway as the spokesperson. She is the only one left with any credibility. They could have used Linda Allison. hmmm...both of these women have strong ties to dave holloway....isn't that interesting.

I don't want to post and run, but it is late.
The issue I see is not the law, but what happened, or did not happen in the first few days of the investigation.

I have always been concerned that it damaged the case beyond repair. The only hope I can see is new information can be obtained from MB interviews or new evidence is found.

Good night

Posted by: Wayne | Monday, January 02, 2006 at 03:01 AM

Yep. The police not being notified for nearly 24 hours was very bad. The first 48 are critical, you know. Fortunately, Rep. Bachus sent in 13 FBI agents on the 4th of June. Hopefully, it made up for the time lost to the Twitty's secretiveness and irresponsible vigilantism.
